Acquire the Fire

March 13 & 14, 2009 we attend a great youth conference in Nashville, Acquire the Fire - Here Comes Trouble. Ron Luce, Joel and Casey Johnson were the speakers. The sessions included the 'trouble with the opposite sex', 'the trouble with parents', 'the trouble with the letter', 'the trouble with being a follower of Jesus'. We heard the bands, Leeland, Jeremy Camp, and Group 1 Crew; Phil Joel was the worship leader. It was an intense workshop but we had a great time. Plans are underway to attend next year's conference scheduled for February 26 & 27, 2010.

Ronald McDonald House Update
Saturday afternoon, January 24, 2009, T, Tyler, Bert, Taylor, Seth, Josh, Alec, Emma, Ally and Melissa traveled to Nashville to cook and serve a soup and sandwich meal to the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. While slicing onions, potatoes, carrots, browning meat, making sandwiches, cookies and brownies, we talked, laughed, visited with several families and definitely added some noise and activity to the House kitchen! (Ask Bert about his delicious chicken noodle soup.)
We also had time to empty trash cans, put away clean dishes from 4 dishwashers, and wipe down the tables and chairs in the dining room.
Thanks to June Kimbrough, Kati Burns and Christie Brown for attending, to Rayma Miles for trusting me with her large truck to haul kids and to all the folks who donated food to make the meal such a success.
