NOTES FROM THE CHOIR LOFT . . .
On the first Sunday of this past October, Charlotte and I began our
twenty-first year of ministry at First Presbyterian Church, and during
those twenty plus years, this church has come to mean so much to both of
us. I want to take this opportunity before 2008 becomes a reality in
less than a week to thank all of you for your support, your suggestions,
and especially to the members of the Chancel Choir, your loyalty.
As our church heads into a new year, I feel a sense of excitement for
this church and its future. Charlotte and I have had the privilege of
serving under three full-time ministers and an interim and in each case,
we have had nothing but the greatest of support from the pulpit; that
means a lot, for I know of churches where that is not the case.
We will resume our Wednesday night rehearsals on the ninth of January,
and we are looking ahead with great anticipation to a year of growth in
our church and hopefully that will include some new choir members as
well. We are also excited about the prospects of some renovations to our
organ and the distinct possibility of getting new choir robes.
So to close, thank you for all of your support during our journey
together, and I am looking forward to a new beginning, and personally,
I cannot wait to get started. Hymn #377 so eloquently says "We have
come to the lakeshore", and my hope is that we as a church will 'seek
other seas' under the inspired leadership of Rev. Robert Montgomery,
the session and the members of our congregation. May God bless us in
our endeavors.
